To Royal Borough of Greenwich:
Petition Against Proposed Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) for Cantwell Road
We, the undersigned residents of Cantwell Road, strongly object to the council’s proposal to impose a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) here.
The proposed CPZ:
Halves the number of available parking spaces.
Is unnecessary — there is no problem with non-resident parking, or road safety
Would cost residents at least £110 per year for almost all cars, and over £300 for some.
There is no provision on the plan for charging points and, because of the hilliness, very little off-street parking.
A CPZ is inappropriate for our area, which has poor public transport, does not have a problem with non-resident parking, has a very good road safety record, and is on a steep hill that makes walking and cycling difficult or impossible for many residents, especially the elderly with shopping.
We call on the council to withdraw this proposal.
